English Language Teaching

in the Context of restoration of Social Connections, Love for Nature, and Critical Pedagogy.

Welcome to Holistic English

There is no such thing as neutral education”( Giroux, 2019, 3m12s.).

The concept of education as a holistic process in which the main message is to teach ecological values, respect to Nature, and promote a more just world, stands in opposition to educational systems maintaining the status quo by training the workforce which does not question environmental, economic, and social ills( Mayo,2020, cited in Macrine 2020).

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

Holistic English Language Education supports learners in understanding and responding to the major crises undermining the security of the contemporary world. The three defining threats of our time—ecocide, the risk of nuclear war, and widespread attacks on democracy (Giroux, 2021)—create an urgent need for critical pedagogy. Such an approach offers not only analysis, but also hope and possibility in the struggle for a more humane world—one grounded in respect not only for people, but also for wildlife and the living planet as a whole (Freire, 1983).
